Rhythmosaic Dance Company is the brainchild of dancer-choreographer Dr. Mitul Sengupta and researcher-choregrapher Shambik Ghose.

​

The company brings a multicultural and dynamic perspective to the artistic sphere that is born out of differences in experiences and diverse creative cultures.

​

Rhythmosaic exemplifies delicate fusion/ hybridization between traditional classical Indian dance with contemporary movement art and artistic aesthetics around the world in an attempt to be presented in high-quality settings that have relevant multicultural audiences throughout the globe.

 

The company’s artistic vision and choreographic research practice are drawn on Mitul and Shambik’s cultural background blended with contemporary dance and subject matters that speak vividly to diverse contemporary audiences.

I introduce myself as a Researcher, choreographer, and performance maker. I had the privilege of sharing my expertise Nationally and Internationally in the domain of classical and contemporary artistic practices and performances for more than 23 years. My research and practice bring a multicultural and dynamic perspective to the artistic sphere that is born out of differences in experiences and diverse creative cultures. My choreographic voice manifests an approach that blends Jazz, Contemporary, and Indian Kathak dance movements to emerge as a unique hybridized dance research and artistic signature. My dance research choreography and practice draw on my cultural background blended with contemporary dance and subject matters to speak vividly to diverse contemporary audiences.

I introduce myself as a Researcher-choreographer and a Dancer. My artistic expression examines and explores performances that draw on intercultural perspectives inviting hybridity, and interdisciplinarity.

As a Kathak and a contemporary performance artist, I have collaborated and created works for several Nationally and internationally renowned performance companies and venues throughout the world.

To name a few, the Royal Danish Ballet, (Playhouse), Belarus Philharmonic Society, Beijing Dance Festival, Abundance Dance Festival, and Thailand International Arts Festival.

​

My artistic interest is always to create an original performance voice that is defined through an evocative performing body. My creativity is best defined through culturally diverse collaborations that narrate stories of humans and their coping with the present.

 

Presently I am the artistic director of Rhythmosaic – an internationally renowned dance company situated both in India, and the UK.

Mark brings with him over thirty years of experience working in arts and culture as a practitioner, a consultant, in senior roles at Arts Council England, and Executive Director of five arts charities including Leeds 2023 year of culture, Phoenix Dance Theatre, and Freedom Studios. With extensive experience in arts and culture funding, strategy, and operations, Mark’s work has spanned theatre, performing arts, museums and galleries, local authorities, music services, heritage organisations, and individual practitioners.

 

Mark is currently Chair of Yorkshire Dance and, in his arts and culture consultancy work, supports and champions independent artists with the same level of attention and enthusiasm as with arts and cultural institutions.
