CONVERSATION
Rhythmosaic is an international dance organisation centred in the UK.
In 2010, the Ballygunge Rhythmosaic School and Dance Institute was founded in Kolkata, India, under the capable direction of Shambik and Mitul. In 2022, RHYTHMOSAIC, as a separate performing arts entity, was established in the United Kingdom.
Rhythmosaic is the 'ASSOCIATE COMPANY' of 'BRADFORD ARTS CENTRE UK' from 2025 and aims to create and develop more artistic work and offer space for youth and other artists to develop artistic practice, along with new productions from RHYTHMOSAIC.
For 15 years under the artistic directorship of Mitul Sengupta and Shambik Ghose, Rhythmosaic has been promoting and producing innovative artistic works both individually and in collaboration with world-renowned traditional and contemporary creative organizations across the globe.
THE CONVERSATION is an offer from Rhythmosaic to host a gathering of artistic minds under one roof in Leeds, to share short performances of their and our work in celebration of our dance practice and the impact of dance in people’s lives and society.
It is intended that ‘THE CONVERSATION’ becomes a series of encounters in subsequent years, to harness a collective voice around the power of dance and to share our understanding of practice through our work.

Rhythmosaic Dance Company is an artistic organisation operating simultaneously in India and the UK. The company foregrounds the possibilities that intercultural collaborations bring to the artistic body and imagination through stylistic innovation, inclusivity, and creative exploration.
Led by Dr Mitul Sengupta, Dr Shambik Ghose as Directors and Mr. Mark Hollander as Executive Producer and Director, the company’s creative vision is
“To inspire all people to enhance their lives through a contemporary reimagining of South Asian dance”.
PROJECT YOUTH: Rhythmosaic has a long lineage of supporting talented young people in its home country India. It does so by nurturing youth dancers hailing from various styles into the Rhythmosaic idiom of Contemporary Kathak whilst identifying talented individuals and incorporating them into the company training.
Prasanna Saika and Prasun Banerjee were two such dancers who got trained in the Rhythmosaic youth team in India and then entered the company and danced with Phoenix Dance Theatre UK and other international companies during their tenure with Rhythmosaic.
Presently Rhythmosaic is nurturing young dancers in schools in India and has a youth dance training wing/academy in the UK.
Rhythmosaic’s present repertory in India also has an amalgamation of youth and professional dancers who are trained professionally by the leaders of Rhytmosaic and other professionals around the world.
Project Youth 2025 is Rhythmosaic’s first experimental artistic initiative in the UK. It brings diverse dance styles under one roof allowing young artists to see, experience and interact with other artists from culturally different dance styles. Through Project Youth Rhythmosaic explores Intercultural Youth dance discourse accommodating Yorkshire, Scotland and India to map the impact of such exploration in the development of Intercultural Youth dance practice and presence in Yorkshire.
PROJECT YOUTH by Rhythmosaic with the support of Arts Council England, Yorkshire Dance, Bradford Arts Centre and Ministry of Culture Govt. of India will feature a blend of South Asian Youth Dance (Rhythmosaic Youth Academy UK and Screen Dance from Rhythmosaic Youth and professional wing in India) along with contemporary youth Dance by the Y Dance Scotland.
The event will be followed by an interactive post-performance talk facilitated by One Dance UK involving the audience and the panellists to discuss the expectations of parents from institutions such as Rhythmosaic, and Yorkshire Dance in the nurturing, guiding and facilitating young dancers in considering their futures in the professional dance sector.
